Access to Media
"The exposure that Spalding products have received in SGMA's Satellite Media Tours has been terrific," said Spalding's Dan Touhey. "Having your brand featured within a TV news segment makes a positive impression in the mind of the consumer. We have found tremendous value in promoting our products and brand through the SGMA’s SMTs."
Dan Touhey, Spalding
SGMA speaks with unsurpassed credibility as the voice for your industry and brands to the media with targeted PR initiatives. SGMA offers a number of opportunities for media exposure for your brands, products, business and sport category.
Satellite Media Tours
Lights, Camera, Action! Do you want television news coverage for your product? If so, then sign up for a TV Satellite Media Tour (SMT) by SGMA. During an SMT, SGMA is able to reach the general public through their local (and some national) television morning news programs (seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, Warner Brothers, and independent affiliates). The purpose of the SMT is to utilize the medium of television to communicate information about new products in the sporting goods industry. During an SMT, SGMA will coordinate "live" interviews (conducted via satellite) between SGMA industry spokesman Mike May and television news programs at local stations around the country. Each interview is, on average, 2:30 - 4:00 minutes in length. As in past SMTs, approximately 20-25 "live" interviews will be conducted with each one showcasing all 6-7 products on display that day. Some of the cities reached by SMTs include Tampa, Orlando, Atlanta, Richmond, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Lexington, Huntsville, Chicago, Kansas City, Houston, Denver, St. Louis, Phoenix, Tucson, San Diego, and San Francisco.
There are five advantages of participating in an SMT with SGMA:
- Companies/brands reach the consumer through an editorial format, i.e. local news;
- Consumers pay attention because it's not a commercial;
- The role that SGMA plays as the presenting entity provides additional credibility to the entire segment; and
- Sports/fitness issues are relevant in every city - every day of the year.
- SMTs are cost effective for companies that may not have large advertising budgets
SGMA has a successful track record in producing SMTs as the association has produced five of them since January of 2003.
To reserve a spot in an SMT -- which should reach a cumulative audience of more than 1,000,000 people -- contact SGMA's Mike May (561.427.0657 or mmay@sgma.com).
