Over the years, this report has served as the only meaningful research in this category of business. This year, SGMA Research plans to take this one step further and look more deeply into the team sports business with its first-ever nationwide survey of athletic directors and coaches -- Athletic Directors and Coaches Buying Habits and Brand Study. Working together with the NIAAA and the NFHS, SGMA Research aims to uncover a number of key issues and challenges designed to help manufacturers and retailers maintain their relationships and grow their respective businesses. The survey will look at a number of key areas when it comes to athletic directors’ and coaches’ buying habits, behaviors, budgets, buying process and much more. In addition, the study will provide brand share and brand strength ratings across the main team sports: baseball/softball/, basketball, football, soccer and volleyball. “This is the first study of its kind that has ever been done in the team market,” said Keith Storey, vice president of SGMA Research. “It is a great chance to understand the needs, challenges and also brand preferences when it comes to making purchase decisions for things like uniforms, equipment, inflatables and facility related purchases.” SGMA Research plans to put this study into the field in the middle of February and anticipates having data available for the SGMA/NFHS/NCAA Rules Meeting on April 21st in Indianapolis.
