US Golf Manufacturers Council (USGMC)

Background & Purpose
The mission of the U.S. Golf Manufacturers Council (USGMC) is to protect and advance the position and role of the American golf manufacturing industry in the game of golf, consistent with the interests and objectives of its Members and the health of the game. The USGMC will provide a strong and unified voice with Congress, regulatory bodies, and the media. In addition, the USGMC will liaise with golf's various rulemaking and other bodies on matters common interest to its member companies and will provide channels of communication and information exchange through research and education.
Organizational Structure
Formed as an industry council within the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), the USGMC will initially be chaired by Steve McCracken of Callaway Golf, Peter Broome of Acushnet will serve as vice chair and SGMA's President and CEO, Tom Cove, will serve as Executive Director.
Introductory Meeting
The USGMC Introductory Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 in conjunction with the PGA Show in Orlando, FL. The meeting will be held in the Orange County Convention Center in the Pre-Con Room W-323 at 2:00 - 5:00PM EST. Attendance to this introductory meeting is open to all manufacturers of golf clubs, balls and bags. Following this meeting, USGMC meetings will be limited to active members of the USGMC. Membership into the USGMC is free and available to any organization who is both an active member of SGMA and a golf manufacturer.
